Dr Mina Ghaly is a movement disorders and general Neurologist. He completed his Neurology specialty training at Melbourne Tertiary Hospitals.
He undertook extensive training in the field of movement disorders at St Vincent’s hospital. He was the first to receive a dedicated deep brain stimulation – DBS fellowship at the Royal Melbourne hospital and work with expert DBS neurologists in Melbourne and overseas. Dr Ghaly underwent further training in the surgical treatment of movement disorders – Neuromodulation. He is one of a few neurologists globally who uses high-intensity focused ultrasound – MRgFUS to treat movement disorders.
He has expertise in managing movement disorders such as tremors, tics, dystonia, and Parkinson’s Disease. He has special interests in Parkinson’s disease pathology, and treatment, particularly Device Assisted Therapy (DAT), such as Duodopa, Apomorphine, Deep Brain Stimulation – DBS and MRI-guided focused ultrasound – MRgFUS. He uses Botulinum toxin to treat patients with dystonia, spasticity and chronic migraine.
Dr Ghaly also consults in various neurological conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, headache disorders, peripheral nerves and muscle diseases, Multiple Sclerosis and vertigo.
Dr Ghaly is active in Parkinson’s research, patient advocacy and public education.
He currently holds a position as a movement disorders specialist at St Vincent’s Hospital. He has private appointments at major Melbourne private hospitals – Epworth, St Vincent’s private, Melbourne private, Southeastern private hospital and Mulgrave private.
Dr Zhong is a fully qualified neurologist with an interest in all neurological conditions and subspecialty training in Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology. His academic journey began with an Undergraduate Medical Degree from The University of Melbourne, followed by rigorous medical and neurological training at Monash Health and St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.
Driven by a passion for advancing personalised therapeutics and prognostics in Multiple Sclerosis, Dr Zhong undertook a subspecialty fellowship at The Alfred Hospital, and completed his PhD through the Central Clinical School at Monash University in 2023.

Dr Jasinarachchi is a neurologist with a sub-specialty interest in clinical neurophysiology and neuromuscular disorders.
She completed her fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology and Neuromuscular disorders at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, where she had comprehensive training in large/small nerve fibre testing, EMG sampling, and single fibre EMG. As a consultant associated with Statewide Progressive Neurological Disease Service (SPNDS), Calvary Care Bethlehem Hospital, Caulfield, and through private work she has gained expertise in diagnosis and management of patients with complex neuromuscular disorders. She is involved in the training of advanced and basic physician trainee doctors on a regular basis.
Dr Mahi Jasinarachchi is a member of Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists, (ANZAN), Neuromuscular Society of Australia and New Zealand (NMSANZ) and American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic medicine (AANEM).
Dr. Jasinarachchi would be happy to see patients for electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS).
Dr Matthew Sawyer initially graduated from Monash University’s Victorian College of Pharmacy with First Class Honours and worked as a pharmacist for a number of years. He went on to study postgraduate medicine at Deakin University and subsequently completed his specialist physician training at Monash Health, Eastern Health and St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.
Dr Sawyer’s research has been published in international and national journals and he has presented at numerous conferences.
In addition to private practice, Dr Sawyer is a Consultant Endocrinologist at Werribee Mercy Hospital.

Dr Gowri Somarajah is a consultant Endocrinologist and Specialist Physician.
Gowri completed dual training in Endocrinology and General Medicine at Austin Health and a Diabetes Fellowship at Monash Health. Gowri continues to consult in hospitals, as well as privately as a weight loss specialist and consultant endocrinologist. Having worked extensively across hospital weight management units as well as with bariatric surgeons, she is able to provide patients with holistic care addressing their bio-psycho-social needs tailored to best suit patient’s individuality, for sustainable long-term changes.

Dr Henry Zhao is an academic neurologist with special interests in Stroke and General Neurology. He completed both his medical degree with honours and PhD through The University of Melbourne and The Royal Melbourne Hospital Comprehensive Stroke Centre. Dr Zhao is a current clinician-researcher practising as Consultant Neurologist at The Royal Melbourne Hospital where he is the lead neurologist for Australia’s first Mobile Stroke Unit ambulance program.
His other appointments include Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Medicine, The University of Melbourne; VMO Neurologist at Epworth Health Richmond and Freemasons and Consultant Neurologist in the Ambulance Victoria Stroke Telemedicine Program. Dr Zhao has extensive experience in all aspects of stroke care and recovery, including rare subtypes of stroke.
Dr. Parveen Sagar is a neurologist with a specialized focus on epilepsy, known for his expertise in managing complex and difficult-to-treat cases. He received his foundational medical training in Melbourne, where he completed his residency and neurology training at several prominent Melbourne hospitals. His commitment to advancing the field led him to pursue further specialization in epilepsy at the Alfred Hospital, a leading institution in the treatment of neurological disorders.

Dr Essie Low is an endorsed clinical neuropsychologist with a Doctor of Clinical Neuropsychology degree. She has extensive experience working in acute, aged care and rehabilitation, and mental health settings across major tertiary hospitals.
Essie’s main areas of interest and expertise is in the assessment, diagnosis, management and intervention of neurological and neurodegenerative conditions. She also offers pre- and post-surgical assessments for patients with parkinsonism or mental health conditions requiring deep brain stimulation, or for epileptic conditions. She is also skilled in providing assessments to inform decision-making capacity.
Essie currently holds an appointment as Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist with Neuropsychiatry at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. She is also the Dementia Trials Manager for Neurology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital where she manages large-scale dementia clinical trials investigating the efficacy of various drugs in delaying disease progression.
Essie is a board-approved supervisor. She is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society and Fellow of the APS College of Clinical Neuropsychologists.

Rebecca is a Consultant Neurologist who began her medical training with a Bachelor of Science at The University of Melbourne in 2006, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours in 2011. She completed specialist training in Neurology at Austin Health and St Vincent’s Hospital, before undertaking fellowships in both Movement Disorders and Stroke at St Vincent’s, where she continues to hold a public appointment.
She takes a holistic, patient-centred approach to care and is dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of adults across all ages.
Her clinical expertise spans the full breadth of neurology, with specialised experience in Movement Disorders, Migraine management, and Stroke. She is skilled in advanced therapies for Parkinson’s disease, including subcutaneous apomorphine and intestinal carbidopa–levodopa. She also has extensive experience in migraine treatment, with specialist proficiency in botulinum toxin therapy and calcitonin gene–related peptide (CGRP)–targeted therapies. At St Vincent’s Hospital, she holds dual appointments as a Movement Disorder Consultant and a Stroke Consultant.
Rebecca’s academic achievements include the R.D. Amy Peng is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Nutritionist. She is a professional member with Fight Parkinson’s, Dietitians Australia, Diabetes Victoria. Dr. Pouya Hafezi is a dual-qualified specialist in Pain and Rehabilitation Medicine. Fatemeh is passionate about teaching and research, having published several peer-reviewed journal articles. She is an affiliate senior lecturer at the Deakin University School of Medicine and is currently a PhD candidate at The University of Melbourne. Her research focuses on novel techniques for assessing patients with various neuromuscular conditions, including peripheral neuropathies and neuromuscular junction disorders, which can ultimately lead to improved diagnosis and management.

Dr Swaminathan is a Specialist Physician and Geriatrician with a diverse and extensive background in various medical disciplines. With a wealth of experience acquired from Monash Health and Barwon Health, Dr Swaminathan has profound experience in geriatric medicine, general medicine, intensive care, cardiology, and perioperative medicine.
He currently holds positions at Latrobe Regional Health, Mulgrave Private Hospital, and St. John of God (Berwick) as a geriatrician, peri-operative physician, general medicine physician. He is also involved in Acute Pain Service. He is also an adjunct senior lecturer in clinical medicine at Monash University.
